The Role of Rural Women in Policy Making
Project period: 2015
Pamoja was supported by Konrad Adenauer Foundation-Kenya to carry out a series of public participation forums and follow up meetings. Among others, Pamoja facilitated a two day community training in Homa Bay County. The training and forums provided a platform for rural women to familiarize themselves with key policy issues and decisions that can improve their participation in the County development agenda. In addition, various follow ups were also carried out to gauge and encourage the communities’ commitment and engagement on policy, advocacy and political development and to determine the extent to which women are involved in the County development agenda. The follow up sessions strengthened the capacity of women majority who actively participated and contributed to the county budget hearing processe in Homa Bay.
